Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment Indications

We utilize HBO treatments only for conditions approved by Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS), U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)  and CMS/Medicare. We do not treat or provide HBO treatments for off label/experimental/research or indications not approved by one of the above 3 agencies. Hyperbaric oxygen treatments further require preauthorization from the insurances in most instances. CMS/UHMS indications are included below, most common uses are highlighted.

Acute carbon monoxide intoxication

Decompression illness

Gas embolism

​

Gas gangrene

​

Acute traumatic peripheral ischemia

Crush injuries and suturing of severed limbs

​

Progressive necrotizing infections (necrotizing fasciitis)

​

Acute peripheral arterial insufficiency,

Central retinal artery embolism/Idiopathic Sudden Sensorineural  Hearing Loss

Preparation and preservation of compromised skin grafts

​

Chronic refractory osteomyelitis, unresponsive to conventional treatment

​

Osteoradionecrosis 

​

Soft tissue radionecrosis

​

Cyanide poisoning

​

Actinomycosis, only as an adjunct to conventional therapy

​

Diabetic wounds of the lower extremities in patients who meet the required criteria
